Places of Worship are one of the measures of community wellbeing in the Co-op's new Community Wellbeing Index. The index uses Culture, Heritage and Leisure as one of nine indicators of what makes a place good to live in and gives scores for 28,000 communities across the UK. Most important about this is that culture and heritage are valued and included as indicators, which is unusual compared to other wellbeing frameworks.
Delighted to be working with community groups and Essex museums on Snapping the Stiletto, which is researching collections to find stories about inspirational Essex women. Snapping the Stiletto marks 100 years since some British women were able to vote (those over 30 years old and either owning property themselves, or married to someone who did) , 90 years since all women aged 21 got the vote, and 50 years since female workers at Ford's Dagenham factory sucessfully achieved equal pay. Follow our progress on the Snapping the Stiletto website as the stories unfold.
