Architecture students from Newcastle University are building a new wildlife hide at Kielder. This is part of Living Wild at Kielder, which brings new opportunities for people to find out and experience wildlife at Kielder.
Some of the M.Arch students taking the Live Research module have the experience of designing and building the hide; Newcastle is the only architecture course offering this opportunity, which will be of great benefit for the students' future careers. Once the hide is completed, visitors will be able to watch wildlife on the water -the hide overlooks an osprey nesting perch - and in the forest. I have been appointed to evaluate Living Wild at Kielder, which is managed by Kielder Water and Forest Park Development Trust and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
